↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This paper explains that Microsoft's mission statement is simple and clear. The company is firmly focused on technology and innovation, striving for customer satisfaction and excellence. The author points out, when it comes to the company's global production needs, Microsoft's decentralized production management concept thus leads to the development of flexible software solutions for all types of manufacturers. The paper relates that company's international strategy is based on taking knowledge that is developed in one location and transferring it to other countries, presumably because it is superior to what is locally available.

Conclusion

From the Paper:

"Microsoft's Internal Provider, which manages its production needs, demands a scaleable and easy to manage solution that can consolidate its existing Web storage into a centralized location, without service disruption. Using Windows Storage Server 2003, Microsoft Internal Provider consolidated their Web server content from several existing servers and onto a single NAS server, providing centralized services for content serving. Rather than using multiple Web servers with local storage distributed among them, consolidation onto Windows Storage Server enables Microsoft Internal Provider to use fewer Web servers, lowering the both total cost of ownership and the management overhead that resulted from trying to manage distributed storage while ensuring that equipment needs scaled with customer growth."
