This paper proposes an assessment of mentoring in nursing as it may apply to mitigating the presence of ethnocentrism in the nursing practice. Mentorship in nursing has been recently established in the literature as providing an effective and cost- -and- resource-conscious strategy that can promote and alleviate multiple problems associated in integrating new nurses into an established health care environment.

"The majority of work in mentorship among new nurses has been in the areas of generational theory, in which the older nurse mentors the younger nurse.
