"He found most of his interviewers possessed minimal knowledge about mental illness and simply desired lurid details they could stick into their
stories before a deadline. Research studies seem to back up Steadman's claims. In a simple content analysis of five American newspapers taken over five weeks, two-thirds of the news stories mentioning mental health were crime reports. Just 22 of these stories were written by mental health professionals."
