"This paper will examine medical experimentation on prisoners. Though this experimentation does not often occur in Europe, it is common in the United States, although it is usually not made public. The issues include informed consent behind bars and therapeutic vs. nontherapeutic research. Prisoner experimentation must be halted, or it must be dealt with through uniform laws.This experimentation dates back to the early 20th century: Prisoners have been used for experiments in the United States since at least 1914, when white male convicts in Mississippi were used for pellagra experiments. Also, during World War II, prisoners trying to be patriotic signed up in droves for experiments, therefore ... "
