An analysis of the affect that media has on every day living.
Written in 2005; 1,350 words; 3 sources; $ 53.95
Paper Summary:
This article discusses two specific articles using an article on debate as the guideline. It also offers two different sources to back the argument. The paper analyzes the article "Cool Bodies: TV Ad Talk" and Charles Mann's article, "Remote Control for Your Life". The paper argues that Christopher Lasch is correct in saying that media guides and directs life with people failing to take time to debate different articles and advertising that the media presents to the public.
From the Paper:
"Media Affects Every Day Living Have people lost the ability to make their own decisions? Instead, people listen and do what the media says regardless of what the topic may be. What a person does is greatly influenced by what the media does. "Increasingly information is generated by those who wish to promote something or someone--a product, a cause, a political candidate or officeholder--without arguing their case on its merits or explicitly advertising it as self-interested material either" (Lasch 218). From teenagers to adults, they are influenced by what the media says and portrays without taking time to argue the merits of the products, information, or the newest technology."
