The leadership skills of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. serve as a good example of leadership quality that relied heavily on communications skills. The paper shows that the charisma of the man and the ease with which he was accepted relied almost entirely on his communication skills. The paper discusses other factors that made him very popular with the blacks as well as the whites of America, including the ability to identify with the cause he was fighting for and his ability to move people with words.
From the Paper:
"Martin Luther King was identified as a genuine leader of the masses rather than the leader of the black masses. He is given the status of a social reformer who has been able to remove some of the serious flaws of the society and has been instrumental in propagating love and brotherhood between the whites and the blacks. He is not known Justas as a social reformer who fought for the rights of the blacks, but as a person who fought for justice to the blacks and he tried to build a society that would give importance to both blacks and whites in an equal fashion. He was able to identify the role of the blacks in the bigger scheme of things for the country and he created a sense of urgency by his popular movements and protests. His speeches echoed simplicity even when explaining philosophy so that the common man could relate the principles to their life."
