This paper focuses on the AIDS/HIV virus and discusses it in relation to New York residents. This is not surprising as 15% of all AIDS cases in the country are in New York, with over 80,000 people infected wit the AIDS virus, (McGoy, 2004, p.3). These figures represent a population that is dealing with widespread AIDS and HIV related illnesses. As individuals seek treatment from New York hospitals, doctors and health care facilities, there is a growing number of people within the poorer communities that are not only stricken with AIDS, but a multitude of circumstances that surround the disease."
