"The opening Civil War battlefield scene, in this movie, gives the first insight into one of Dunbar's personality Archetypes. He has been so severely, rounded, facing possible amputation of his foot, that he wants to die. Dunbar finds himself in a desperate situation that he has little control over causing him to experience feelings of misery and impotence.
