"In the case of an imagined scenario in which I have been confronted by a burglar who has not yet seen me or the 32 caliber pistol I have (and doesn't know what a good shot I am), I must consider carefully what my impulsive reaction would be. Though it is difficult to ascertain exactly how I might react in such an extreme situation, I can answer from a theoretical perspective. My impulse, I believe, would be to immediately confront the burglar and force him off the premises with the threat of the gun. However, I would not hesitate to shoot if he failed to comply or offered up any resistance. I think his would be best because I do not believe that shooting on sight without warning is a very judicious and is often the precursor of mistaken deaths. However, in this position I would feel fully justified in ..."
