Job Discrimination

Job Discrimination
A review of the mediation process for complaints by an employee of job discrimination.
900 words (approx. 3.6 pages) | 2 sources | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper reviews the process whereby a complaint by an employee of job discrimination is either recognized and addressed or conversely, recognized and dismissed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or by the courts. While the paper does not dwell upon it at length, it concludes that the mediation process is the best means of resolving these issues because the alternative, a lengthy trial and the acrimony that invariably accompanies it, can have negative financial and personal repercussions upon all concerned.

From the Paper:

" The Private Sector and Job Discrimination Job discrimination today is perhaps a more sensitive topic now than ever before simply because the workplace is more heterogeneous now than ever before. The following paper will briefly review what an employee - in this case, "John" - can do if he or she believes an employer or superior is discriminating against them. More specifically, the paper will outline how the complaint begins with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and proceeds from there through the civil litigation process - a process which can reach all the way up to the Supreme Court of the United States. In the final analysis, what the following pages should reveal is that filing a complaint of job discrimination is not an easy task and it is not one that should be entered into lightly. To begin with, there are presently a number of laws protecting employees from discrimination. "
