This paper discusses the way that the Irish economy has developed over the years. It also looks at problems within the economy, namely, unemployment and the health care system. It concludes that, by joining the EU, the Irish economy will continue to develop and strengthen.
From the Paper:
"The Republic of Ireland is located on the south of the large island to the east of England, Wales, and Scotland. It is the larger of the two countries. It is just over 27,000 square miles in size and has a population of about 3.5 million people (Starchild, 2003). Although for many centuries Ireland was troubled by extreme poverty and even an inability to support its residents, the country has made a recent transition to a more dynamic economy (Crotty, 2000b). This along with other factors that will be mentioned make it an appealing prospect for companies looking to establish themselves abroad."
