The incidence of idiopathic speech and language dysfluencies and that of acquired speech and language dysfluencies can be distinctly differentiated as regards etiology. Acquired stuttering begins typically subsequent to some form of trauma to the head, resulting in brain damage and speech and language dysfluency.
II. Communication Breakdowns. Given head trauma as one cause of learning disabilities, language-learning disabled children earned a mean of 0.56 in conversation and narration communication breakdowns.
