Immortality Theory
A discussion on Socrates' theory on immortality.
1,657 words (approx. 6.6 pages) | 4 sources | MLA | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

Socrates believed in life after death: One soul going from body to body, from life to death in a systematic cycle. This paper attempts to dispel this theory by providing several opposing facts to prove his theory wrong.

From the Paper:

"Beginning with Socrates fifth doctrine, theory of recollection, a man sees an object and recalls something totally different, or a man sees an object and recalls something somewhat different. If that man picks up a cloth and it reminded him of his lover in the past life, that would be unlike to like. On the opposite end of this theory that man can look at a picture of someone and remember that person from his past life, but he does not know how he remembers them; that is known as like to like. To clarify things better, during the life and death cycle the soul has to forget and recollect all the knowledge it has ever obtained at certain points in the midst of the cycle. "

I am a Sophmore in college, and will be granted my associates of art in may '06. I graduated from highschool a year early so I'm still a youngster, but I fit right in. My major will be psychology and my minor will be business. I plan to one day serve as a psychiatrist for the grieving souls and make it my own business.
