↶ Look Inside

Paper Summary:

This paper describes Histrionic Personality Disorder as a condition that causes the sufferer to focus an inordinate amount of time toward the external world. It discusses characteristics of a sufferer and what treatment is available.

From the Paper:

"According to Dorr the histrionic personality is lacking the normal maturation process that allows a person to learn from their social past and develop a set of coping skills that serve to assist in the formation and maintenance of mature adult relationships. Historically speaking HPD is closely associated with the origins of psychotherapy and the ancient diagnosis of hysteria. Though widely accepted the real changes associated with the new terminology clearly dismisses this old claim. Yet, the diagnosis is still much more prominent among women than men."
