Paper Summary:
This paper presents a conceptual analysis of men's fashion and how it has changed from 1900 to 2000. The paper examines how trends varied from decade to decade.
From the Paper:
"Although there was strict fabric rationing during the decade, the zoot suit managed to sneak its way into men's fashion. The changes in men's
fashion during this decade were not as vast as the other decades
because of the fact that most men were in the war. However, we still
saw many new fashions and fads come out for men during this decade.
First showing up near the beaches of Florida and California, the
"casual shirt" became a popular item in menswear. After the war, men
took advantage of the ability to have more fabric, and long, full-cut
clothing became popular. Bright colors were also a constant during the
1940s."
