This paper presents a brief overview of the role of Hinduism within its community, the world political structures, and within religious contexts. It focuses on these three concepts from a view from the inside of the faith. It discusses polytheism, the caste system, and Hinduism's role in the daily lives of those seeking reincarnation.
From the Paper:
"Hinduism is one of the world's oldest and largest religions. Unlike the other major three religions of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism which all maintain a monotheistic view with an identifiable single founder or leader of the faith (Jesus, Mohammed, Moses), Hinduism is polytheistic with an ever evolving set of guiding personalities and processes. This exceptionally complex religion guides the daily lives of millions throughout Southern and Central Asia. It is the purpose of this paper to present Hinduism in a broad view to discuss it's structures, its impact, and how it helps its followers in dealing with life in this world and the next. Hinduism has no one central text (like the Koran or the Bible), not a single central leader or figure (such as Jesus or Buddha), and not a single God. "
