This issue was resolved at least in part through enactment of the so-called Brady Bill in 1993 and the inclusion of additional gun control provisions in the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, hereinafter referred to as the "Crime Bill." In each instance, the executive and legislative branches of the federal government were the key players."
