This paper will approach Aristotle's "good man" in terms of both Aristotle's "Nichomachean Ethics" and his "Politics". It will be argued that the "good man's" relationship with the ideal polis can only be understood in terms of the ethical and political distinction Aristotle draws between the "good man" and the "good citizen". While in the ideal polis the two are identical, in the real world they are separate more often than not.
