Death and Resurrection are what this "weekend" is all about: the despair of death on the cross, and the joy at the resurrection. Modern theologians may consider the resurrection of the soul, rather than mortal remains, as proof that the Christian faithful will be rewarded for having led a good life on earth. If nothing else, the Good Friday ritual enables the faithful Christian to "enter into Jesus' death with the confidence that we will be raised with Christ.""
