The following paper will examine the "Integrated Resort Initiative" currently being pursued in Singapore - complete with two casinos - and attempt to determine if the resulting influx of tourists to the new resort will be sufficient to overcome the expected social ills. As will eventually become plain, the Singaporean government's initiative, while controversial, is ultimately a positive one for the country. Singapore's economy has long been in the doldrums vis-a-vis many of its more vibrant Southeast Asian counterparts. "
