2,745 words (approx. 11 pages) | 8 sources | MLA | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

This is an analysis of how Frederick Douglass influences the uprising of the Civil Rights movement. The author examines what drove this man who many consider to be the greatest of his race in America, in the abolition movement. This is a comprehensive study of the man many consider the "Father of the Civil Right" movement. The paper starts with the background preceding the rise of the abolition movement and concludes with the role that Douglas plays.

From the Paper:

"Douglass sent his Sons into the Boston area to help organize and equip a group of blacks, some former slaves, and some free men into a Volunteer Militia. This was successfully accomplished primarily by his sons but Lincoln's Military Leaders stood firm on the issue of just how the 54th Boston Volunteers were organized. The non-commissioned and commissioned corps of leadership would be white regular Army personnel and no amount of argument ever changed this fact."
