Paper Summary:
This paper presents an experimental report on a project looking at the relationship between Formicinae and Sarcandra Glabra, as an example of mutualism.
From the Paper:
"Plants and animals have many different types of interactions within all types of ecosystems. The relationships between plants and animals is tropical regions can be particularly interesting because many plants and animals in tropical regions have coevolved together for mutual benefit. This type of relationship is generally known as mutualism. David T. Krohne in General Ecology defines mutualism as, "an interaction between two or more species in which all species benefit" (Krohne 707). There are many examples of mutualism that have been observed between plants and insects in tropical regions. The high level of mutualism between plants and animals in tropical regions has resulted in varying degree of coevolution in many cases."
