1,226 words (approx. 4.9 pages) | 7 sources | MLA | 2003 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper looks at three aspects of how forensic psychology is used-- family background, criminal profiling and the court system. It explains the importance of these three facets of the field. All claims are supported with evidence from various sources.

From the Paper:

"Forensic psychology is the study of the criminal mind. Understanding criminals is very important in determining what causes their socially deviant behavior. If we are better able to understand what drives criminals to commit crimes and what causes them to get to the point where they are willing to break the rules, then there is some hope that warning signs can be detected and lives of future criminals saved. There are many aspects of forensic psychology, but three of the most important are family background and the influences it has on the individual, traits or characteristics shared by criminals, and the role that forensic psychologists play in the court system."
