This paper examines how the Saudi Arabian economy can not function without the expertise and the experience of the foreign laborers. It looks at how foreigners in Saudi Arabia are isolated and confronted with life-threatening violence and with physical and psychological abuse, making it necessary for the international community to compel the government to guarantee the protection of the basic human rights of its foreign domestic labor and, to the best of its ability, the safety of its Western business and professional employers.

"Saudi Arabia is critically depending upon foreign experts and workers for the development and even operating and functioning of its economy. According to Neil Ford, Saudi government statistics show that there are at least 5,200,000 foreign works in the kingdom, with an extra 2,000,000 dependants, bringing the emigrant community to one-quarter of the entire Saudi population and to one-half of its entire working population. Furthermore, this figure, although it is already very high, does not even add up the foreigners that are unlawfully living, accommodating and working in Saudi Arabia (Ford). "
