"Ewing's sarcoma belongs to the Ewing's family of tumors (EFT), three related soft tissue and bone tumors that exhibit characteristic histological features, as well as an aggressive clinical course with a less than favorable prognosis (De Alava, 2000). These tumor cells are often termed "small, round, blue cell tumors of childhood", due to their physical appearance and their propensity to occur in children and adolescents (See Fiugre 1). Ewing's sarcoma is the second most common malignant bone tumor occurring in children and young adults, slightly more prevalent in males, with an annual incidence rate of approximately 0.6/million people in the U.S, with much higher rates in the UK (Burchill, 2002)."
