The enlargement of Europe by peaceful means provides stability and prosperity to new members. An enlarged union will considerably benefit third countries. Only one set of administrative procedures, one set of trade and a one tariff will operate across the one market of the enlarged union as well as across the existing members. This paper examines how European integration influences and affects the small business industry in Poland.

"One of the major duties of the Ministry of the Economy is to acclimatize Poland's economy to the EU standards through restructuring processes, besides catching up with the EU Member States. Since the date of the signing of the European Agreement i.e., from 1994, the harmonization of Poland's legislation with the EU has continued. Poland has eliminated all duties in trade in industrial products except for fuels and automobiles and experts discuss measures aimed at liberalization of trade in services and agricultural products. In the areas of business, finances, ecology, transport and industrial policy, already over 1/3 of the EU acquits have been transposed into Poland's legislation. The business activity law i.e., the legislative process relating to a monumental legal act has been completed."
