Eating Disorders

Eating Disorders
An analysis of various eating disorders, the causes and treatment.
2,250 words (approx. 9 pages) | 3 sources | 2005 United States

Paper Summary:

The issue of eating disorders, which are so prevalent among North American women, is indicative of a serious pathology not among those women but in the culture. This paper will analyze the Fact Sheet published by Healthy Ontario (2005), and will argue that social and cultural factors, while mentioned, are completely ignored. According to the Fact Sheet, the contributing factors involved in anorexia nervosa and bulimia are located in the individual and/or in her family environment. In fact, the multifactorial approach is totally contradicted since treatment is primarily based on changing the individual's behavior.
