The child, Christine, dies in the first few minutes of the film, yet she haunts it for the next hour and a half. Although the film suggests at first that the couple has moved on from their child's death, it eventually becomes clear that they have not in fact done so. As a result, the film provides an opportunity to explore the concepts of subjectivity ... "
