Paper Summary:
This paper examines how an individual's behavior can be defined as a compellation of many things, including personal goals, attitudes, competencies, beliefs, values, drives and past experiences. It also looks at how some factors are genetic such as gender, ethnicity and to some degree, geographical differences, while other factors are developed over time; i.e., socioeconomic status, personality traits, values and attitudes. It attempts to show how any and all these factors can and will play a role in the development of an individual's behavior.
From the Paper:
"Age is another factor that governs behavior, because as a person ages, their life experiences have influenced his or her behavior. This is human nature. For example, when first entering the workforce, an individual's goal may be to climb the corporate ladder as quickly as possible by doing whatever they feel must be done or sacrificed in order to achieve his or her goals. Yet, the motivations will be significantly different when an individual approaches the latter years of his or her professional life. At this point, they are likely to be more concerned about tenure, retirement, productivity, health, family, security, and national economies as well as numerous other issues; therefore, their values and drives are different and ever-changing."
