"As part of a new social trend, adult children are returning to their parents' home to live temporarily. At the present time, more than one-quarter of all adult children return home at least once to reside for a period (Mitchell, Wister & McGee, 2000). Prior to the 1970s, young adults normally left the parental home once they completed high school or by the time of marriage.
