Written in 2004; 3,021 words; 14 sources; MLA; $ 88.95
Paper Summary:
This paper provides a preliminary, logical specification of system requirements for Coffee World Initially, a context diagram is presented. This is followed by the presentation of an events list in which the six primary events associated with the system are identified. After this, examples are provided from the events list, with an event response model presented for each of the events identified. Subsequently, a discussion is provided as to the manner in which an information system may be represented by a balanced set of leveled DFDs.
From the Paper:
"The context diagram provides a visual representation of the proposed information system for Coffee World. It includes the external elements known as terminators which will interact with the system and the data flows between the terminators and the system. Terminators can include individual users, other systems, other data stores and other businesses. The context diagram provides a means of clarifying the boundaries between Coffee World's system and the larger environment. It is considered to represent the highest level data flow diagram and is useful for validating data inputs and outputs in lower level data flow diagrams (DeMarco, 1978)."
