Curriculum Plan
An example of a sample curriculum plan prepared for a new type of education policy called "child-centered educational environment."
1,320 words (approx. 5.3 pages) | 4 sources | MLA | 2002 United States

Paper Summary:

This paper is a three-month curriculum plan, which focuses on the emergent learner in a child-centered educational environment. It uses classroom observations by the writer to select themes and applies readings from class to define the educational philosophy used, which is an approach that seeks inspiration and guidance from the children themselves, rather than imposing a set approach and specific material. The framework is designed to be flexible and adaptable to a variety of classroom settings and to a diversity of students.

From the Paper:

"Educational theorists examining how children learn have developed a number of approaches to the process that go well beyond the conventional model of a teacher force-feeding a set of facts to a silent, attentive group of students seated in neat rows. The criticism that Sylvia Ashton-Warner (1986) received of her vocal, energetic group, "Once you've got your foot on their neck they're all right" (p. 102), is no longer as widely accepted a goal among teachers as it might once have been. Indeed, a too-quiet classroom is now seen as a sign of trouble by most experts."
