The aim of the study is to demonstrate how we gradually learn and grow as a result of development throughout our lives and that there are moments that help promote a critical developmental period in which there is massive change.

"Identifying a Critical Developmental Period in My Life Introduction Within the study of evolutionary science, there is a theory called punctuated equilibrium. This theory suggests that evolutionary events occur periodically in large, cataclysmic changes, instead of in a progressive series of smaller evolutionary adaptations. As a result, significant changes in the evolutionary record come to pass because of profound alterations as opposed to smooth and gradual evolutionary trends. The same concepts can be applied to the study of development in humans; while we gradually learn and grow as a result of learning throughout our lives, there are moments that help promote a critical developmental period in which there is massive change. This paper shall explore a critical developmental period in my life in order to demonstrate how this process occurs. "
