"Communication, rhetoric, speech patterns, and almost all aspects of human linguistic development have been a source of inquiry from almost the moment humans began to record their observations. Of course, one need only look at the works of the ancients (Aristotle and Plato, in particular), to glean an understanding of the human need to explain the way communication acts within the sociological, philosophical, and political spectrum of human life.


For the purposes of this essay, we will be concerned with a critical analysis of communication competence theory.
