"Cognitive psychology is the study of information processing systems in the mind. Originally derived in the decade beginning with the late 1950s as an alternate approach to behaviorism in understanding the psychological basis of human behavior, cognitive psychology has since been incorporated into a wide spectrum of psychological and behavioral theories, including those pertaining to infant development, linguistics, artificial intelligence, and the study of human anthropology (Gerrig & Zimbardo 2005)."
