Children and Marriage

The paper discusses how marriage has long been considered an integral part of Western society. Children who grow up in homes with two married parents traditionally do better than their counterparts without two parents. The paper relates that, however, a large number of families today are non-traditional families, with either mixed families or with single parents at their head. Yet, children who have married parents do better than those growing up in single-parent homes, homes with cohabiting adults or mixed families. Children from two-parent families are more likely to achieve in school. Paragraph Three: Delinquency. A child is more likely to engage in risk-taking behaviors in a single-parent household."
