This paper discusses how children's literature can consist of a variety of topics stemming from the moral tale, fantasy stories, and the fairy tale. It looks at how the children's market has been growing over the past few decades and how the advent of the Internet has paved the way for new writers to become noticed. It demonstrates how, although the publishing industry itself has undergone several changes, the writing process itself remains the same, even in the world of writing for children, and how, although writing can be rewarding, it is still a business that demands attention.

"The writing process itself is different for every writer. However, every writer would agree that rewriting is a natural part of the process that must occur for any book, novel. One important aspect of revising is allowing others to read the rough draft and give feedback. From the suggestions and reactions of others, writers can often gain a new perspective, which may help the story flow better. Learning from other writers is important as well. In addition, each writer must learn to critique his or her own work. This is essential to develop "thick skin" that is often necessary for any possible future negativity. Samuel Butler tells the aspiring writer to think of and look at your work as though it were done by your enemy. If you look at it to admire it you are lost . . . If we look at it to see where it is wrong, we shall see this and make it righter."
