2,275 words (approx. 9.1 pages) | 5 sources | 2002 United States

Paper Summary:

Today in our society there is an increasing dilemma regarding what members of our society can do regarding a case of child abuse, or alleged child abuse. On this issue, we have the predicament of parental rights and state rights. First, the problem is that a community has to come to an agreement over how to objectify the term "abuse". There is, after all, a difference between discipline and abuse. A society must also be careful to whom it gives the permission to objectify the environment. Once the definition of abuse is made, however, common sense can prevail when a child is being abused. There are, however, no easy solutions to this problem.
