Changes in the Canadian Music Industry In the article "Songsmiths Seek Boast to Internet Charges" Vito Pilieci looks at an initiative put forward by the Songwriters Association of Canada. The Songwriters Association of Canada is petitioning the Canadian government to charge all Canadians an additional $5 a month on their Internet service. These charges do bring some advantages to Canadians. It will allow them to download as many songs as they want. It does not matter if the songs being downloaded are legal or illegal. This is because if this initiative passes all downloaded songs would become legal(Pilieci 2008: A.8).
