"The Internet is a broad source for communicating with people all over the world. Once upon a time, it was home to a series of small, closely-knit communities, frequently in the forms of Multi-User Dungeon (MUDs) and MUD Object Oriented (MOOs) (Hawkes 77). Over the past decades, the Internet, and its use, has grown exponentially, while personal contact between users seems to have decreased. The original communities have long since diluted or disappeared. Is it still possible to form communities on the Internet? Can a business make use of the Internet in an interactive manner, outside the realm of email? This research prospectus will briefly examine the process of building an Internet community. It will also discuss the necessity of a business expanding to a community website, for the benefit of the business that sponsors it.
