Women seeking care at this center were usually well-educated, middle class women with insurance to cover hospital maternity care, and exhibited the same demographics as the previous generation of women who began the childbirth education and breast feeding movement in the United States. These women wanted to make informed decisions about healthcare and wanted more from the birth experience than women had previously."
