Anais Nin was a very intense being, who blossomed and matured sexually throughout her life with the help of her diaries. This paper briefly discusses her life and her writings, focusing on the sexual and erotic aspects.
From the Paper:
"As the boat set sail on July 25th, 1914 from Barcelona, Spain to a new American life in New York City, eleven year old Anais Nin began what would become a life long obsession, one of several volumes of her unexpurgated diaries. Her mother, Rosa Culmell Nin, an accomplished Danish singer, placed the first notebook and pen in the little girls hand as a form of distraction from the long voyage ahead and the troubles of a broken home, as her father was verbally abusive and had abandoned his wife and three children (Anais and two brothers Joaquin and Throvald) for a young mistress. To Anais, this notebook was no distraction. It became a pining letter to Joaquin Nin, a Spanish concert pianist and composer, and Anais's father, in hopes to rejoin the family in a very convincing and seductive way (Fitch). And so the written recollection of the remarkable and sexually charged life of Anais Nin began."
