"Women are involved in the stage just as much as their husbands. The birth of the first grandchild is the beginning of the third stage, called the forest dweller stage. A man may choose to ask his wife to accompany him through this stage to engage in a spiritual quest. The fourth stage is that of the sannyasin, or wandering ascetic. This stage is for the forest dwellers that are ready to return to society but remain detached from the normal distractions of the world."
