This paper begins with a definition and description of autism and then takes a look at the characteristics and symptoms of the disability as well as the need for early identification for those affected with autism. The paper also looks at current methods of working with children with autism and in particular the increasingly popular method of "Social Stories".From the Paper:
"Autism can be defined as a developmental disability significantly affecting verbal and non-verbal communication and social interaction usually evident before age 3 that adversely affects a child's educational performance.
