Paper Summary:
ADHD may be one of the most misunderstood and over-diagnosed disorders known today, due to a number of claims by medical professionals that ADHD is not real nor legitimate. This paper examines the symptoms and possible causes of this disorder that affects between 3-5% of all pre-schoolers. It then looks into treatments being used to deal with ADHD.
From the Paper:
"Of course, medications are the most widely used treatment method. Currently, Ritalin is the first choice because it has been proven effective with children over a wide age range. If the child fails to respond to Ritalin, other stimulants, such as Adderall, Dexedrine and Cylert, can be administered; however, some children may not respond to any of these medications, especially if they are under six years of age. In addition, a number of anti-depressants may be prescribed, such as Norpramin, Elavil and Wellbutrin."
