# 88435
American Education
The paper explores the issue of race in public education.
1,800 words (approx. 7.2 pages) | 3 sources | 2006 United States

Paper Summary:

The paper discusses how racial identity is a significant factor in the public schools, because it is through the individual culture that he or she begins to learn. These teachings are then brought into the schools and can often be different from the mainstream ideologies that have traditionally been a part of public education. When racism is present in the public schools, the paper explains that students cannot receive an adequate education because they are often degraded and cast aside in the system.

From the Paper:

"This leads to an inequality in the educational system that extends into society and the future of students. Inequality also exists because of gender classifications, disabilities and sexism. Female students and teachers often do not have the same opportunities for learning or advancement that exist for their male counterparts."
