Through time, Alexander the Great has become known as a model military leader and conqueror. The subject of legend and literature, as well as of historical fact, he is sometimes credited with things he didn't actually do. It is known, however, that using bold military tactics, he invaded Persia, Egypt, Iran, Afghanistan, and India, and, in the course of his conquests, he spread Greek culture throughout much of the world.
