Alcohol Consumption and Adolescents

This paper examines how alcohol abuse among adolescents is a problem that must be addressed. "The pervasiveness of teenage alcohol misuse is a major concern, as it is associated with teen drinking with accidents, suicide, violent behavior, high-risk sex, and emotional problems. Parents, communities, and governments have tried to control teen alcohol consumption along with consumption of other drugs. However, efforts in the United States to decrease drug use have focused on preventing initiation or otherwise eliminating consumption. While this strategy has resulted in significant reductions in the onset of illicit drug use, it has had little impact on teen alcohol use."
