This paper addresses the serious issue of violence and suicide among teenagers, due to the fact that they do not process the skills to solve conflict. It examines different techniques that have been taught to various groups of teenagers and asks which conflict resolution program was most effective in reducing the number of violent acts committed by teenagers. It questions which techniques teenagers found most effective in helping them resolve conflicts and examines what some of the guidelines teenagers can use when approaching a conflict.
From the Paper:
"This project will be designed to evaluate research previously conducted on conflict resolution programs. Research that has been conducted on these programs has resulted in positive outcomes on increasing conflict resolution skills in teenagers. Offord and Bennet (1994) stated that children and teenagers are both victims and perpetrators of violence. Risk factors that increase the probability of them becoming both victims and perpetrators include socioeconomic status, difficult temperament, chronic illness, psychiatric comorbidity, and parental psychopathology."
