This paper examines the main ideas of Wealth of Nations, paying special attention to Smith's writings regarding the division of labor, the prescribed laissez-faire role of the government and the concept of the "invisible hand." It then evaluates the applicability of these ideas in an age of increasing globalization.From the Paper:
"In Wealth of Nations, Smith defined capitalism as a system wherein individuals or "free agents" pursue their own interests. People who work and earn money in exchange for their labor benefit themselves and are able to fulfill their own needs. However, Smith also points that that people who work in a free market also produce goods that are valued by others.
